Thanks to Byron, a volunteer at the home, for today's post
Wildflower Home is a womens' shelter In Chiang mai, Thailand run by an American woman and her ex-refugee husband from Vietnam. The women are often refugees themselves, fleeing abusive homes or governments, homeless, passportless and otherwise disenfranchised. At Wildflower they learn English and skills for jobs and getting care and housing for themselves and their children while waiting for U.N. refugee status. The home aspires to self-sufficiency, raising fish for food, chickens for eggs, pigs for bio-cooking fuel and various fruits, vegetables and rice. Housing is basic thatch huts, but they make mud and straw bricks which they are using to make beautiful buildings which will hopefully one day house all the residents.
