Can we put in yet another plea for customers to think about getting their documents edited well before the deadline needed. Last week we had to decline two jobs because we simply were not given enough time. Expecting a 14,000 word document to be edited accurately and efficiently in 2 or 3 days with the quote and deposit still to do is not understanding the editing process.
As a general guide, our editors (we have 2 at the moment) would actually spend about one hour to correct about a 1,000 words in the first draft. The average is approximately 4 hours 'screen time' per day. Once the draft is done it has to be emailed to the customer for approval and to answer any comments, this usually take a day. When we receive approval the editor re-reads the whole paper making minor revisions and checking spacing and other format issues. Only then is the document ready to deliver to the customer. Therefore, if you are working toward, or thinking about, a deadline for your document please consider at the end you will need to leave four working days minimum for a 14,000 word paper. Thank you for your understanding, until next time. |
